Subject: I listened and taped as well
I remember the power outage show very well. I taped this on an old JVC boom box (the old ones sound good). Great to see Smashing Pumpkins on the Archive. I hope they tour soon.

Subject: i wore out my cassette
i too taped this show when it aired, and listened to it until the tape wore out. classic billy, berating himself on stage about his performance - used to be that billy corgan and scott weiland were yin & yang, to me anyways: billy had a ton of self-respect but no self-love, while stp's frontman had nearly no self-respect, but an overabundance of self-love. what's amazing to me is that both bands are still touring. seems like corgan is in a far better headspace these days. thanks for posting this.

Subject: me too!!!
I bought this CD way, way, back when around 1996 & listened to it all the time. I lost it when I moved about 7 years ago, so finding it on the Archive (not to mention that TSP were approved) made my night. Thanks to the uploader!

Subject: I've been looking for this show!
This was a radio concert The Smashing Pumpkins played the night before Mellon Collie was officially released. I remember sitting up until the late hours of the night with a stack of blank tapes in my sweaty hands, determined not to miss a second. This proved pretty difficult, though, mainly due to an electrical problem that ultimately led to one of the most self-deprecating moment of Billy's career. Although I haven't listened to this recording yet, I do remember how awkward Billy sounded when he asked an audience member, "How do you expect us to play our old songs when we can't even play any new songs?" Gotta love Billy. This one brings back memories.
